Welcome to Kidz Go Texas - known as The Lone Star State.  It borders Mexico, and has over 600 miles of coastline.  Texas has long been associated with the cowboy, partly due to its long history  as a center  for the American cattle industry, and partly due to its wide open, sprawling prairie and desert regions.

The warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico are perfect for families, whether you want to horseback ride along the beach, build sandcastles, hunt for shells or swim and snorkel.
Or if you're looking for a real Texas vacation with plenty of Western hospitality, head to one of the State's many working ranches and test your cowboy skills!

The food of Texas is not to be missed, with specialities including chili (the official state dish), Tex-Mex (Mexican influence, teamed with Texan flair) and a good ol' Texan barbeque.

Houston is the largest city in Texas, with other major cities being San Antonio, Dallas and Austin.  Galveston is the chief port city and is the gateway to the popular holiday destination of Galveston Island (the city and island are linked to the mainland via a causeway.)
